Cheap Auto Insurance in Oklahoma – OK

Driving conditiions in Oklahoma consists of many miles of two lane highways. There are major turnpikes: the Turner Turnpike from the northeastern corner of the state to Tulsa. The next section of turnpike going west is Interstate 44 going to Oklahoma City. Interstate 40 bisects the state east to west from border to border. There are several other turnpikes in the state, also. The state is wellknown for its many toll roads. Although there seems to be perpetual work on the miles of turnpike, these are still the best highways in the state and are kept up the best.

Automobile owners in Oklahoma are required to have insurance in order to buy their tag each year. This has, no doubt, cut down on the uniinsured motorist accident total. However, what some people do to get around the insurance requirement, is to purchase insurance, go in and buy the tag, offering proof of insurance and then short rate cancel the policey within a few days. Needless to say, altough the intent of the law is good, it does not completely eliminate the uninsured motorist.

Outside of the two largest cities, Oklahoma City and Tulsa, insurance rate are relatively low since the theft and accident rate is lower in many of the smaller towns. Of course, the rates must take into account the car being insured and the driving record of the driver. Some cars are stolen more than others. One of the first cars stolen is the Toyota big SUV that is all-wheel drive, the Nissan Murano is second of the list of cars most stolen. Many variables go into making up the insurance rate. According to statistics for 2004, there were 35 states with rates higher than those in Oklahoma; and 14 that had lower rates.

With the economy being worse than in many years, people are looking for the cheapest auto insurance they can find and still be adequately covered. One of the best places to find a comparison of insurance premium rates is on the Internet. There are several websites that give the exact premium charged, after information is given about the vehicle and the driver(s) of the vehicle that will be insured. The advantage of companies such as Unitrin, Esurance, and Progressive is that not only do they offer lower premium rates, they take into account that their business is being conducted over the Internet and no salesman overhead is involved, thus giving still a lower premium rate.

One word of caution about comparison shopping over the Internet, make sure the comparison is of like coverage offered. For example, if one company offers a slightly higher premium but also allows a low deductible, it could be cost effective to go with the higher premium in that instance.
